Our Curriculum

At Nest, we believe that every child learns best when they are curious and engaged. Our curriculum is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach®, which means we tailor our learning experiences to match each child’s unique needs—from our nursery to kindergarten.

Our programs focus on:

  • Exploring children’s deep curiosities
  • Encouraging creative and critical thinking
  • Supporting a smooth transition to school

We also follow the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) to ensure that every child is prepared for their next steps.

Nursery (6 weeks to 18 months)

In our Nursery, we focus on helping babies feel safe and connected. We create an exciting space where they can explore their environment and start to become more confident. Here, they’ll begin to:

  • Understand and express feelings
  • Say words like “dada” or “mama” and wave goodbye
  • Sit without support and stand up with help of furniture
  • Recognize themselves in mirrors
  • Realize they are part of a community

Toddlers (18 months to 3 years)

Our Toddler program helps kids grow more independent and confident. We use their strengths and interests to improve their social and emotional skills, guiding them as they learn through play. In this stage, they’ll start to:

  • Become more independent
  • Walk, climb, and run
  • Feed themselves and drink from a cup
  • Understand social behavior, empathy, and friendships
  • Recognize themselves in mirrors
  • Learn to manage their emotions with some help

Pre-Kindergarten (3 – 4 years)

In Pre-Kindergarten, we focus on each child’s unique growth and strengths. We give them the chance to explore new ideas and develop important skills for kindergarten. During this time, they’ll learn to:

  • Build and create with materials like blocks, puzzles, and clay
  • Ask lots of questions
  • Manage their emotions with more confidence
  • Hop, jump, and run easily
  • Show care when someone is hurt
  • Use words to express themselves and interact with others

Kindergarten (4 – 6 years)

Our Kindergarten program prepares children for a bright future. It’s a government-approved program with over 600 hours of teaching each year. Our qualified teachers help children get ready for school. Here’s what they’ll achieve:

  • Enjoy playing with friends and making close friendships
  • Learn to work with others and play cooperatively
  • Develop reading, writing, & math skills through play & structured activities
  • Express creativity through music, dance, movement, and art
  • Keep improving verbal skills and active listening
